Arashiyama Bamboo Grove (嵐山竹林の小径)

Walking through the Tenryuji garden and out the north gate is the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Grove path (Bamboo Walkway). It is a shorter distance than you might imagine, but it is beautiful, lined with tall bamboo.

Arashiyama Bamboo Grove is always crowded with tourists, making it difficult to get good photo opportunities. If you want to take pictures when there are no people around, we recommend that you visit early in the morning.

Tenryuji Temple in Arashiyama is one of the World Heritage Sites in Kyoto. The garden is a creation of famous Muso Soseki.

Nomiya Jinja Shrine is located near the bamboo grove path. The torii gate made of black wood (barked sawtooth oak) is unique.

Mikami Jinja Shrine and Ogura Pond Mikami Jinja is the only shrine in Japan that enshrines the founder of the barber. Ogura Pond is famous for its lotus flowers.
