Walking through the Tenryuji garden and out the north gate is the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Grove path. It is a shorter distance than you might imagine, but it is beautiful, lined with tall bamboo.

Arashiyama Bamboo Grove is always crowded with tourists, making it difficult to get good photo opportunities. If you want to take pictures when there are no people around, we recommend that you visit early in the morning.
