Jojakkoji Temple Autumn

In autumn, the entire grounds of Jokkakoji Temple are decorated with maple trees and other foliage. Its beauty is beyond description.

Autumn leaves cover the entire forest area from the entrance of the temple, past the Niomon Gate, to the main hall of the temple. The slopes of the mountain behind the temple also offer beautiful autumn foliage, though not as beautiful as that in front of the main hall.

Enrindo

In contrast to the hustle and bustle of Jokkakoji Temple in the fall is the adjacent Enrindo, an ossuary attached to Jokkakoji Temple, but surrounded by a garden. This garden is also decorated with autumn leaves in the fall. This garden is also open to the public during the fall foliage season. However, Enrindo is not well known and is rarely visited.

The Enrindo building is newer, but the lanterns and Hokyointo are from the Muromachi period.

Enrindo, Jojjakoji

Enrindo’s fall foliage is not as spectacular as that of Jojakkoji Temple. If you have time, you may want to stop by.
