Ryogen-in is a sub-temple of Daitokuji Temple. This temple was founded in 1502 by Yoshimoto Hatakeyama, Yoshinaga Otomo, and Yoshioki Ouchi. It is the oldest sub-temple of Daitokuji Temple. This temple is usually open to the public.
The original buildings, the Hojo, Karamon, and Omotemon, are important cultural properties.

Ryogen-in has three dry landscape gardens. Around the Hojo, there is a small garden called Totekiko to the east. To the south is the Isshidan garden, which has an oval moss island in the center of white sand. To the north is Ryugin-tei, a moss garden said to have been created by Soami, with a three-piece stone arrangement.

Zuiho-in is usually open to the public.
Next to the Zuiho-in, Korin-in is only open to the public during special openings in the fall and spring.
