Konkai Komyoji Temple is one of the seven head temples of the Jodo sect of Buddhism. And it is said to have been built by Honen in 1175. At the end of the Edo period, this temple became the headquarters of the Aizu han (feudal domain). Aizu han was appointed as the guardian of Kyoto, and the Shinsengumi (shogunate military force) also frequented the temple.

This Temple does not have many cultural assets. This is probably due to the fact that the repeated fires destroyed the temple many times. The only important cultural property is the three-story Monju-to (pagoda) since 1633. However, when we visited the temple, there were several works by Ito Jakuchu on display inside, so if you like Jakuchu, you should check it out.
